Choosing running shoes is not an easy task. Shoes are an important piece of equipment for runners, because they not only ensure a comfortable running experience, but are also good for your health. Wearing the wrong running shoes puts you at risk of injury. If you don't know how to choose running shoes, read on to find out what to look for.
Determine your foot type
- Lubricate your feet with a cream or oil.
- Stand on a piece of white paper and mark the widest part of your foot and the heel.
- Assess what the footprint looks like. If the entire footprint is visible on the paper, you have a flat foot. If you can see the arch of the foot, you have a normal foot. If only the front and back of the foot are visible, you have a high foot.
Determination of pronation
When choosing shoes, safety when running and walking can be affected by the ankle angle of the foot, known as pronation. The big brands always state the type of pronation in the specification. There are three options.

- plantar fasciitis.. The plantar fascia, which supports the arch of the foot, becomes overloaded due to the uneven distribution of stress. Frequent strains in this area can result in small tears that cause pain and swelling.
- Sprain of the ankle. Occurs when the foot is twisted during a movement. The consequence of such an injury is pain, swelling and an increase in local temperature. If the tear is severe, surgery may even be necessary.
- A 'stress' fracture. Can occur with regular use of the foot. If the load is not absorbed by the sole and is not evenly distributed, this problem occurs. Also, every step you take when walking in the wrong shoes hits a spot on the bone, causing it to become brittle over time.

The ligaments have to work hard to keep the knee in the correct position while running. When shoes have poor support and the load is unevenly distributed, the ligaments become inflamed. There are also problems with the kneecap ligament. Over time, knee pain can develop due to improper footwear. If your feet don't absorb shock properly, it will be transferred to your knees. What is the difference between men's and women's shoe sizes?
Women have long been accustomed to certain men's clothing finding their place in their closet. For example, men's shirts are tighter than women's models. They are even more loosely adapted to the female figure, so that fashionable oversize models are possible. Sweatshirts, raglans and pullovers from the men's departments also benefit the women's wardrobe to the same extent. But the question is: Can women buy men's shoes and feel good in them? And what is the difference between men's and women's sizes?
Shoes have been worn by men since ancient times. Back then, they were essential for comfort when hunting wild animals, because that was the basis of survival back then. Even then, people knew how important it is to have shoes that are perfectly tailored to the shape, length and width of the foot. After all, it is these features that allow for comfortable locomotion.
Evolution has changed the size of the human foot. However, the foot has changed little since the time of the 'sentient man'. The size of the foot was more influenced by our habitat: landscape, climate and soil surface. Because of this, Europeans tend to have a square foot. And the brands that address this target group offer models with wide feet. In contrast, people from Asian countries have a narrower foot - the Egyptian shape. This peculiarity is also taken into account when creating a new pair for these countries.
The main differences between men's and women's feet
Men's and women's feet have several differences. And these differences can affect the selection of the appropriate footwear as the size charts are created based on these differences.
Because men's feet are typically larger than women's feet, a given men's shoe size corresponds to a larger size in the women's size chart. For example, a men's size 8 can correspond to a women's size 9 or even 9.5.
Another difference is that men's shoes are straighter. Women's shoes, on the other hand, are more often curved, which corresponds to the contours of the female foot. This difference is due to the curved shape of the female ankle, which requires more shapely footwear. Men, on the other hand, have straight ankles, so their footwear is based on this shape.
To make it easier for customers to choose, manufacturers offer a special size chart. All the customer has to do is pick up a tape measure. With this accessory, both the length of the foot and its volume can be measured.
Don't assume that brands even made in the same country necessarily have the same size chart. Always study a brand's size chart before you buy.
It is often the wrong size that causes discomfort when wearing shoes. The model may be well thought out in detail, but too small a size is depressing. And a large size means that the special comfort inserts are in the wrong place, as the manufacturers assure. And thus also cause discomfort when wearing it.

Nasal medications come in the form of sprays, drops, tablets, and ointments. Which cold remedy you use depends on the exact cause of the cold.
It is said that if you treat the rhinitis it will go away in seven days, if you don't treat it it will go away in about a week. However, the truth is that this is not entirely true. If the body is able to deal with the 'runny nose' on its own, improvement will occur within 2-3 days. If the runny nose persists for more than a week, you should consult an otolaryngologist. Prolonged inflammation is a cause of sinusitis and otitis media.
- Aerosols and nasal drops are used for viral and bacterial infections. Seawater-based preparations are used for rinsing the nasal passages and moistening the mucous membranes for prophylaxis.
- Rhinitis tablets are prescribed when a systemic effect is required, e.g. B. to reduce inflammation in the sinuses (Sinupret and similar products) or to reduce bacterial infections (antibiotics).
- Ointments are used to combat viruses (e.g. oxolin ointment) or to stimulate receptors in the skin and mucous membranes (Gold Star Balm).
Many cold remedies come in a variety of forms. The antiviral drug Lafferobion, for example, comes in the form of drops, sprays and even suppositories.
How to cure a runny nose in 1 day?
Diseases, as a rule, appear at times when it is absolutely forbidden to be sick. Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of a runny nose in 1 day is to apply it. However, with the right treatment, it is much easier to fight the disease and speed up recovery. This requires the following:
- Use antiviral nasal tablets. These contain interferons - proteins released by the body's cells when they interact with a virus. The higher the concentration of interferons, the faster the virus dies and viral rhinitis stops. They should be infused every 2-3 hours.
Antinociceptives can quickly relieve nasal discomfort
- Take an antihistamine. If the cause of the increased mucus secretion is an allergen, this will solve the problem within 24 hours.
- use bacteriophage. If bacteria are suspected in the nose, a broad-spectrum bacteriophage (eg, pyobacteriophage) may be injected. The cold may subside after the 3rd injection. If the infection continues to spread, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics. Remember that antibiotic treatment should not be interrupted even if the rhinitis seems to have resolved.
Rinse your nose regularly with saline solution. Salt water is the cheapest and most effective remedy for a runny nose. It dries the nasal mucosa, makes breathing easier, softens and helps remove mucus, and flushes out allergens. Even the cheapest seawater-based snuff spray or a simple saline solution will do.
Traditional remedies should be used with caution. Putting onion juice in the nose can burn the mucous membranes and impair the sense of smell. Rinsing the nose with herbs (sage, chamomile, calendula) can provoke an allergic reaction. Heating the nose and sinuses can worsen the inflammation and cause pus to form. In the case of maxillary sinusitis, this is generally unacceptable.
Diagnosis of flat feet in children
To check if your child's feet have developed properly, perform a simple test. Examine your child's footprint (a wet spot on the ground or a footprint in the sand). If the footprint does not taper in the middle, but rather resembles an iron, the child has flat feet.
Another indicator is walking on the inside of your feet. This is easily recognizable on the sole of the shoe - the heels are more sanded down on the inside.
Pain in the foot area can also indicate flat feet.
If you notice these symptoms, don't hesitate to take your child to an orthopedist. Don't forget to do physical therapy with your child. Start with exercises that strengthen the foot. Gymnastics should be systematic and last 10-20 minutes a day.
Treatment of flat feet in children
The specialist will give you a list of recommendations after examining your child. Remember to do remedial gymnastics with your child at home. Start with exercises that strengthen the foot. Gymnastics should be systematic and performed every day for 10-20 minutes.
The easiest exercise is to sit on the back of a chair and stand on your toes once and then on your heels. A very good exercise is to carry different objects with your toes and roll them on the floor. When you're comfortable, plant your heels on the floor and wiggle your toes up.

If your child is naughty and doesn't want to do the exercises, try to make the exercises fun and interesting for your child.
