The panels are made of impact-resistant plastic and padded, and adjustable Velcro straps are responsible for protection. They protect the ligaments, but not from torsional stress. Tips for choosing.

It is worth paying close attention when choosing this accessory, as with any other piece of clothing, to prevent the kneecap from dislocating or falling off when riding or in extreme situations.

• Fitting snugly and not pulling on the knee joint and kneecap is the right size.
• The length must be individually tailored to you. Adjust to the length of your shoes.

  What is an orthosis?

  Structure of the orthosis

  The first difference from a regular cast is a stiffer construction with a hinged base. A proper orthosis consists of three parts. The first part is a frame made of strong but lightweight alloys that can withstand very high loads. The second part is the hinge. With good orthoses, the hinge is on both sides of the foot. It balances the stress that occurs when bending and straightening the leg. The third part, on the other hand, is the kneecap.

  This construction is very reminiscent of a soldier's exoskeleton from a futuristic film.

  How does it work?

  At the moment of impact, thanks to the design of the orthosis, the energy is distributed throughout the structure by protecting the kneecap, so that your foot does not suffer any damage. The frame, on the other hand, absorbs all the energy and prevents the leg from bending in a direction not intended by nature, and also protects against side impacts. This means that the risk of breakage is drastically reduced to zero. However, impact protection is a side effect resulting from the design work. The main task of the orthosis is to reduce the load on the joint and protect against movements that are not intended by our physiology.

  Important!!! The permanent wearing of orthoses is not permitted. Due to their stress-reducing function, after wearing a brace for a long time, your muscles and tendons will simply atrophy and you will have to undergo long-term rehabilitation.

  How do you wear the orthosis?

  The first time you put on the orthosis, you will need between 15 and 40 minutes, as adjusting the orthosis to your foot is not quick. But next time it's much easier and you understand what's going on.

  Although there are many manufacturers, the essence and method of adjustment is the same for all orthoses. Before adjusting, you need to check whether your model has an adjustable flexion angle. This angle should be adjusted according to your feeling so that you do not experience pain and discomfort while driving. Manufacturers offer a fairly universal margin from the factory, so pay attention. The angle of the kneecap is an extremely important safety feature for the cruciate ligaments of the knee joint. Therefore, this angle must be adjusted depending on the level of pain. On many orthopedic knee pads, the stops are in a prominent location and can be easily adjusted.   Ekaterina Pagetnova: The center works only with neighboring regions in central Russia and some remote regions, but within a radius of 1,500 km. It is important for us to return the bears to their region of origin and we can only get them there by car. This is extremely difficult by plane.

  How many young animals were you able to rescue and raise?

  Ekaterina Pagetnova: Over the years, the center has raised 277 young animals. We have all of them chipped and ear tagged so that we have data about the fate of our puppies. This shows that our young animals survive and integrate into the local population.

  Katherine Pagetnova: When the young animals are small, we feed them with mother's milk. Vitamins, milk, cream, grains, salt, butter and apples are also needed.
