An orthopedist/traumatologist is a doctor who diagnoses, treats, and prevents disorders of the musculoskeletal system. And also the abnormalities, injuries and diseases that occur with this body system. Let's look at who an orthopedic trauma surgeon is, what their responsibilities are, and when you should see them.
The orthopedic trauma surgeon is a profession that combines two medical specialties - the professions of the orthopedic surgeon and the trauma surgeon. An orthopedic trauma surgeon is a multifaceted specialist who has knowledge and skills in both specialties. There is an orthopedic trauma surgeon in every health center, trauma clinic and hospital. This doctor is involved in examining the patient, treating injuries, selecting and prescribing appropriate treatment, counseling, and prevention.
A good specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery must be highly intelligent, responsible and attentive. The doctor must have knowledge of physiology, anatomy and traumatology, know the musculoskeletal system and master the basic methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Who is a Trauma Orthopedist?
What is a trauma orthopedist? It is a doctor who has practical knowledge in the treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. He provides emergency and routine care and uses modern techniques to correct soft tissue defects in the limbs, repair fractures and treat joints.
If a patient has a broken leg, the orthopedic traumatologist examines the fracture and immediately takes an X-ray. All the features of the fracture can be seen on the x-ray. The doctor then straightens the fracture and puts the broken bones in the right position. After all these measures, the doctor applies a cast that immobilizes the broken bone so that it heals faster and better.
Today, orthopedists and trauma surgeons can easily treat diseases and injuries that until recently seemed hopeless and completely incurable. For example, an orthopedic trauma surgeon can replace joints affected by a disease such as osteoarthritis. Most professional orthopedic traumatologists are based in America, the United Kingdom and Germany.

See your doctor urgently if you notice any of the following symptoms:
Musculoskeletal problems are the result of an unhealthy lifestyle: obesity, constant stress on the bones, lack of exercise, smoking and poor nutrition. All these factors lead to overloading of the joints and, as a result, to the development of various injuries, including disability. Genetic predisposition and infectious muscle and joint diseases are also important causes of musculoskeletal problems.
If you or someone close to you suffer from limited joint mobility, low back pain, poor posture, muscle pain, or if you have a medical condition that changes the density and composition of your bones, you should make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon.
At this appointment, the doctor will collect information about your lifestyle and any medical conditions in your immediate family. Your doctor will then refer you for diagnostic tests (X-ray, MRI, CT, general blood and urine tests) and based on the test results will make a diagnosis and recommend treatment. The doctor will also give you general recommendations about diet and exercise. Please note that vigorous exercise, running, martial arts and fast food are contraindicated in many cases. Treatment in these cases consists of medication, physiotherapy, massage and orthoses. In some cases, the doctor recommends wearing orthopedic bandages for at least a few hours a day. Bone and joint deformities can sometimes be irreversible, so contacting a specialist early can help identify and correct the problem.
