Treatment of varicose eczema on the legs

Varicose veins do not go away without a trace. In most cases, they not only cause discomfort, but also lead to visible cosmetic damage.

Varicose eczema of the lower limbs is a special form of skin disease caused by venous congestion.

Other causes of this disease are:

  • constant load on the legs, heavy working conditions, sports overstrain;
  • Obesity;
  • limb injuries;
  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • endocrine disorders;
  • varicose veins;
  • susceptibility to thrombosis;
  • hereditary cause;
  • Postpartum conditions, frequent pregnancies;
  • advanced stages of skin inflammation;
  • allergic reactions to household chemicals, dust, hair;
  • frequent colds, decreased immune response;
  • lack of personal hygiene.

Eczema of varicose etiology is usually divided into several stages:

  1. In the first phase, the first symptoms of a circulatory disorder appear - itching, dryness and discoloration of the outer skin in the area of the affected vein.
  2. In the second phase, there is swelling of the limbs, pronounced inflammation and congestion, erosions, blisters filled with clear fluid and cracks on the skin are formed.
  3. In the third phase, the upper layer of the epidermis peels off, the blisters open, the skin is moist and infection can occur.
  4. In the fourth phase, the pathological process disappears, the wound surface becomes crusted and scars form. The disease becomes chronic.

symptoms

The preferred site for varicose eczema is the ankle area. The disease begins gradually with a slight swelling after work or a long walk. During the day, the affected person feels itching, the affected skin differs in color from the healthy skin around the swollen veins.

In the acute phase, the patient feels constant itching in the extremities, which makes it difficult to wear socks or stockings because of the severe pain when touched. The skin turns blue, and blisters, ulcers, and swelling form.

The development of varicose veins has a significant impact on gait. The patient tries not to put weight on the affected leg, and limping may occur. The rash affects general well-being – fever, irritability, nervousness, sleep disorders appear.

Varicose ulcers form, penetrating deep into the tissue and leading to necrosis if left untreated. Infection can lead to sepsis and severe venous congestion.
