When you talk about reenactors, you tend to think of burly, bearded men in chains a la warriors from Middle-earth. But a closer era is also popular. Comedia del Arte. Cosplay at Isabella.

Hello, these days the Carnival in Venice is in full swing.

In this context I show my cosplay of Isabella, a character from the Italian Comedia dell'Arte (Comedy of Masks).

The Comedia dell'Arte is a special strand of Italian theater that includes a series of works in which Isabella is a sensual, stubborn and amorous noblewoman.

In the comedy of masks there are many characters, each of which has its own character and traits. Perhaps they were even referred to by different names in different works, but the nature of the character and his behavior were immediately clear.

The characters in The Lovers (male (Lelio) and female (Isabella)) often behave with gestures and almost never use masks (so the mask in this case is meant figuratively, like a face for an actor). Therefore, the fact that I removed the mask in the picture does not contradict canon in any way.
At the end of the play, the lovers are reunited despite all the difficulties.
